According to Joe Vinson, author of a study on coffee (funded by the Institute of American Cocoa Research) and professor of chemistry, most Americans get antioxidants through coffee consumption. You should know that each cup of coffee provides more antioxidants than a serving of spinach or kale.
Antioxidants help reduce inflammation and also help to relieve pain due to arthritis. They may also prevent cancer and improve cardiovascular health. It is therefore important to eat foods rich in antioxidants such as coffee. However, Joe Vinson said that the positive effect of coffee depends on the use of the antioxidants and their absorption by the body.
The other benefits of coffee
Coffee is rich in antioxidants and caffeine, but it has other health benefits, such as reducing muscle pain, increasing blood flow and stimulating memory. In addition, it helps prevent diabetes, delay the onset of Parkinson’s disease and fights against liver and colon cancer. Indeed, according to a US study published in August 2015 in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, a daily consumption of coffee may reduce the risk of colon cancer.
However, excessive consumption of coffee can cause stomach pain and increase your heart rate. Consumption of fruits and vegetables can replenish the vitamins and minerals that coffee doesn’t provide.
