Put Ice
Ice works great on backache for it temporarily blocks the pain and helps in reducing swelling. Try to apply ice as much as possible on the affected area for relief. Take an ice pack and wrap it in a towel and keep it on the painful area for about 20 minutes. If you don’t have ice, you can alternatively use a pack of frozen peas or corns in the same manner. During the initial days of this treatment, try to apply the ice pack as frequently as possible till the pain starts to ebb. You can also use the ice pack after working out or any other physical activity. After 2 days, switch from ice to heat treatment. This helps in the stimulation of blood flow and reduces painful spasms. For this, dip a tower in hot to warm water, wring it properly, flatten and then fold it. Now lie on your belly and place pillows under your hips and ankles. After this, place the towel across the affected area, cover it with a plastic wrap, and then put a heating pad set on medium level on the plastic. Keep it for about 20 minutes and then remove it. Repeat this process three to four times a day for the next few days for best results.
The Rise and Shine Exercise
Before you leave the bed every morning, lie on your back and stretch your arms slowly overhead. Now gently pull your knees to your chest, one at a time. Roll to the edge of your bed, turn to your side, place your knees along the edge of the bed, and use one arm of yours to push yourself up while you let your feet swing the floor. Once you are on your feet, place your hands on your buttocks and slowly stretch out your spine by leaning your back. This will help in comforting your back by providing you with relief.
Basil Leaves
Basil leaves can also work like wonders to get rid of your incessant back pain. In this remedy, take about 8 to 10 basil leaves and add them to a cup of water. Boil the water along with the leaves till the water evaporates to half. Now cool it down to bring it to room temperature and add a pinch of salt to it. Drink this concoction once a day, every day, for mild pain. For severe pain, have it at least twice on a regular basic.
Garlic
Garlic is also another potent ingredient for treating backache. Simply chew two to three cloves of garlic every day in the morning on an empty stomach. Additionally, you can also massage your back with garlic oil. You can prepare garlic oil at home itself by heating coconut, mustard, or sesame oil or low heat. Add 8 to 10 cloves of garlic to it and fry them till they turn brown. After this, strain the oil and bring it down to room temperature. Massage your back gently with this oil and leave it on for a while. After this, take a bath in warm water.
Try these few treatments on a daily basis to treat your back pain effectively. Always maintain a proper posture while you are sitting in order to alleviate your pain to the fullest.
