How To Fight Colds And The Flu With Baking Soda

Baking soda is, also known as Sodium Bicarbonate is a quite useful substance if not one of the most useful ones in our home. It is totally harmless, and it helps with neutralizing bad stomach acid, whitening teeth, and lots of other situations.

The other thing that baking soda can help is with treating colds and flu cases. This was published in the Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Medical Uses by Dr Volney S Cheney.

“In 1918 and 1919 while fighting the ‘flu’ with the U. S. Public Health Service it was brought to my attention that rarely anyone who had been thoroughly alkalinized with bicarbonate of soda contracted the disease, and those who did contract it, if alkalinized early, would invariably have mild attacks.  I have since that time treated all cases of ‘cold,’ influenza and LaGripe by first giving generous doses of bicarbonate of soda, and in many, many instances within 36 hours the symptoms would have entirely abated.  Further, within my own household, before Woman’s Clubs and Parent-Teachers’ Associations, I have advocated the use of bicarbonate of soda as a preventive for ‘colds,’ with the result that now many reports are coming in stating that those who took ‘soda’ were not affected, while nearly everyone around them had the ‘flu.’

Cheney also stated that those who took daily doses of baking soda on his advisement reported that they were among the few that didn’t get the flu when it rampaged through their schools.

How to Fight Colds and The Flu with Baking Soda

People knew about this way of treatment since 1922, but step by step it has been forgotten in the modern society.
The method is very easy and safe.  You just need to dissolve the recommended amount of baking soda in a glass of cold water and drink it.  This is the method documented by the Arm & Hammer Company for colds and influenza back in 1925.
Day one: Take a total of six doses of half a teaspoon of baking soda in one cup of water. Take at two hour intervals.

Day two: Take a total of six doses of half a teaspoon of baking soda in one cup of water. Take at four hour intervals.

Day three:  Take only two doses — one in the morning and another at night.

Continue taking one dose in the morning until illness is cured.
